Indonesian-born Uyung Al Wazir joins the Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino Mactan (WAHC) as the Executive Chef. Hailing from Padang, West Sumatra and with 15 years of culinary experience on him, Al Wazir cooked up storms across Jakarta and Bali before gracing the kitchens of the renowned Amanresorts in Siem Reap, Cambodia, Pamalican Island, Philippines and Fort Galle, Sri Lanka.
Affable and naturally congenial, Al Wazir says that he’s never shied away from social interactions and deeply enjoys mingling with new acquaintances even without the shop talk. He looks forward to working with the Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino Mactan’s Culinary Team as he leads them in greeting the New Year with an array of delectable Indonesian appetizers, entrees and desserts.
A warmly welcomed addition to the WAHC family, he aims to bring authentic Indonesian dishes to the Cebuanos by enhancing ingredients like herbs, chilies, ginger, garlic, shallots, galangal, turmeric, lemongrass, basil and fragrant lime - all of which he strongly believes are vital elements in producing the genuine Indonesian taste.
