Waterfront Group fortifies its Sales & Marketing team

Who doesn’t know the story of David and Goliath? Goliath was a vindictive giant that nobody could defeat because of his tremendous height and might. He spawned terror all over the land – until David came along. David was a young Philistine, who, despite the obvious physical disadvantage, bravely took on Goliath in a battle and toppled him with a single stone. This story proves that not everything big is invincible and not everything small is insignificant.

Waterfront Philippines likens itself to David, who is pitted against the Goliaths of the hotel and tourism industry. Notwithstanding the odds, it relentlessly strives to establish itself as a group that operates and manages properties not only for profit, but to become known as a team that consistently offers world-class quality and impeccable excellence right from the doorstep –traits that are distinctly Filipino.

The Group firmly believes that proper organization and strategic planning is essential in ensuring that all bases are covered. This belief has led to the creation of the new Waterfront Sales and Marketing Team, which is composed of talented individuals who each bring their own brand of expertise onto the table.

Heading Waterfront’s Sales and Marketing team is Christopher Legaspi, who brings to the team over 10 years of solid experience in the hotel industry. Prior to joining the Pavilion, Legaspi was the Directeur de Commercial of the Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort in Thailand, where he supervised the systematic coordination of the Resort’s various departments to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.

GMA and Luzon

Overseeing the GMA and Luzon areas is Angel Suntay, a recognized figure in the hotel sales industry. Before taking on this role, Suntay was affiliated with the Century Park Hotel as the Director for Marketing, where she effectively steered the Sales & Marketing team to increase gross room revenue, banquet revenue, and function room usage.

The Manila Pavilion, one of the Philippines’ most historically rich hotels and one of Waterfront’s newest additions, has Frederick Ang as its Director of Sales. Coincidentally, Ang used to work for the hotel as its Corporate Accounts Manager, when it was still known as the Holiday Inn. Before joining the Pavilion, he was the Sales Manager of the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, where he forged strong ties with local and overseas travel agencies, and airline companies, to meet the Marco Polo’s sales forecast.

Managing the Sales & Marketing group of G Hotel is Desiree Zafra. Her stint as Sales Account Manager of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, coupled with her strong background in the hotel industry, makes her the best person to introduce G Hotel, the Waterfront’s newest venture, to the market. Zafra was part of the Customer Service team of Ascott Hotel Manila before rejoining the Waterfront fold.

Completing the GMA & Luzon team is Angie Vicencio, who manages the Waterfront’s Manila Sales & Reservations Office. Vicencio boasts of strong relationships with foreign embassies and pharmaceutical firms, having worked for hotels like the Manila Midtown and Century Park Hotel in the past. These ties, along with the new ones she makes, would surely be beneficial in increasing the revenue of the five Waterfront properties.

Visayas and Mindanao

Angie Vicencio

Ensuring that Waterfront’s key properties in the South are running smoothly and meeting targets is Miriam Myla Mohammad. Mohammad graduated with a degree in Nursing but opted to pursue a career in the hotel industry because of the opportunity to collaborate with different personalities. She has handled various positions in different hotels like the Cebu Midtown Hotel and the Montebello Villa Hotel.

Romela Gianan serves as the Sales Director of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino and rightly so, because of her sterling track record in the hotel industry. Gianan, who started her career with the AIM Conference Center as its Sales Manager, has since handled various sales teams in organizations like the Ascott Hotel Manila and Edsa Shangri-La, where she developed and maintained corporate accounts and developed critical sales policies, on top of handling in-house events.

Taking on the responsibility of handling the Sales & Marketing Team of the Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino’s sales team is Shelley Arciaga. Arciaga, who graduated with a degree in Mass Communications from Saint Theresa’s College in Quezon City, is no stranger to the demands of hotel sales, having worked as Sales Account Manager for the Cebu Plaza Hotel.

Rounding up the Waterfront’s Visayas and Mindanao group is Jennifer Romero, the Sales Manager of Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao. Romero, like Group Sales Manager for Visayas & Mindanao Myla Mohammad, chose to work for a hotel despite her Biology degree. Prior to joining WIHD, she developed and handled accounts for Grand Regal Hotel Davao.

These are the key movers of the Waterfront Sales & Marketing Team. More than having the skills required to meet job expectations, they possess an unwavering spirit and unquenchable thirst to propel Waterfront Philippines and its properties to the top – where they belong.

Bring on the Goliaths.
